Not far from Larnaka there is a women's Holy Monastery, dedicated to the Transfiguration of Christ the Savior. The place chosen for the construction of the Monastery – a small plain embraced by several bare hills on its north-eastern side – is desolate and suitable for solitary life. The location is known as "Titsiromutti".
The foundation stone of the Monastery was laid in September 1979 by Metropolitan Epiphanios of the G.O.X. of Cyprus. The nuns who live in the monastery follow the Old Church calendar and belong to the Church of the Genuine Orthodox Christians of Cyprus. The surrounding church of the Transfiguration of Sotiros is three-nave, Byzantine style, cruciform with a dome. It has three entrances, one to the west, north and south. Right next to the church of the Transfiguration, on the site of the monastery, there is a second smaller church, dedicated to Agios Kosmas. The cells of the nuns occupy the eastern side of the Monastery, while the rooms of the guest house occupy the western side. The large courtyard is paved and spotlessly clean, permanently decorated with various kinds of flowers. On a piece of land, in the southwestern precinct of the Holy Monastery, a small orchard was created. In front of and around the sacred space, stand dozens of tall cypress trees and a few carob trees.
The Holy Monastery of the Transfiguration of the Savior in Abdellero celebrates on August 6.
Later, in 1989, a short distance from the Monastery, to the southwest, on a wooded hill, a women's Holy Sanctuary was created, dedicated to the Life-giving Spring. The small church of Ζωοδόχου Πηγής is built on the outskirts of the small hill. In the area of the Hesychastiriou, in addition to the cells of the nuns, there is a room used as an iconography and a second one, in which various tasks are carried out by the Brotherhood.
